A look inside the eco-friendly Show home on sale at Stewart Gardens

9th August 2024

Nestled in the highly sought-after area of Newton Mearns, the incredible eco-conscious show apartment at Stewart Gardens, that showcases a commitment to sustainability and luxury, is now available to buy.

Developed by renowned luxury housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, the beautifully decorated two-bedroom apartment exemplifies eco-friendly living through the use of sustainably sourced materials.

Every detail, from lighting to carpets, furniture and bedding, has been crafted using sustainable techniques and ethically sourced materials from around Scotland and the UK. The end result is an exceptionally designed, natural and clean space with a lower carbon footprint.

Extraordinary care was taken to identify suitable items. For the living room, five samples of rugs were considered before a wool pebble style was selected from Alternative Flooring, made using ethically-sourced natural fibre. In return for the purchase, a tree was planted to offset emissions.

The curtains are made from a bamboo/viscose blend, producing significantly lower chemicals than cotton. The unique material is also self-deodorising, hypoallergenic and fully lined to keep in heat. In the en-suite, Kirkby by Romo Group blinds hang, made from 52 recycled plastic bottles.

The walls have been painted with 99% solvent free and fully recycled plastic paint containers, which limits the exposure to airborne triggers for conditions such as asthma. The apartment’s Karndean Flooring has a plant-based coating, which is also non-toxic.

To limit the carbon footprint, only designers and suppliers known to have reduced packaging were selected.

Sales and Marketing Director, Liz Cleghorn, said:

“Our show apartment at Stewart Gardens has been designed with a sustainability -first approach. With a vision to create a natural space with enduring sophistication that brings together different eco-conscious elements, we went beyond simply using recycled or upscaled furnishings. We selected materials, where possible, that are toxin-free, creating a clean environment that is kinder for our homeowners and the planet.

“Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has a proud Scottish heritage, and community is a core value at the heart of all that we do. Working with local suppliers not only reduces the carbon footprint it allows us to support businesses in our back garden.”

The unique apartment is conveniently located on the ground floor and boasts its own balcony – a rare find for this type of property which gives homeowners access to a private outdoor space.

Spanning 966sq ft, it is available from £355,000 and includes all fixtures and fittings.

Each of the apartments at Stewart Gardens are eligible for part exchange to make moving house even easier. This means that Mactaggart & Mickel, with nearly 100 years’ experience in the industry, will take on the responsibility of selling your home ensuring you are in a position to proceed with the purchase of your new home.

Liz Cleghorn continued:

“Part Exchange has been around for years, and we are seeing more and more demand for it as buyers are wanting to get excited for their new home and not have to worry about selling their old home. We take on the estate agent fees  so there is a cost saving as well. It’s a great way for home movers to make their dream home a reality.”
